Description
This rococo service from the height of Franz Anton Bustelli's creative period was the first “Elector's Court Service” from the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. Since it was frowned upon at that time to use fresh flowers as decorations at the table since they might wither during the meal, in 1765 Joseph Zaechenberger designed a colourful and festive decor with floral bouquets, individual flowers, butterflies and insects, all framed by a fine gold lace edge. CUMBERLAND is still considered to be the world's most elaborate floral decoration that is still produced on porcelain: It takes a painter up to three weeks to paint a single plate.
